Need 2 Speed Win's 1st Place at PKE2010
Need 2 Speed is proud to bring home the first place trophy from the 1st Annual PKE2010 first ever indoor stadium kart race at South Point Arena in Las Vegas.
Teams consist of the following racers:
Team 1: Eric Gannon, Steven Gannon, and Boris Podtetenieff - 1st Place
Team 2: Keith Foux, Chase Hill & Charles Mosley – Semi-Finals
Team 3: Justyn Bradley, Jeff Swanson & Aaron Van Slyke - 7th in Round 1
The PKE2010 hosted 44 teams including some from as far as Florida. Most of the major karting facilities were there to represent. Pole Position with multiple location across the US, K1 Speed of Southern Cal. and RPM of Sacramento all brought several teams to compete. The variety of drivers and the experience level was intense with a very challenging track that pushed the drivers to use both skill and stamina to win.
While the whole day of qualifying was intense, it was the final heat that took the spectators to the edge of there seats. In the Final round, Eric Gannon qualified 6th out of 12. On the first lap, Eric made a great move on the inside to pass 5 karts and take the lead into turn 2. From that point he never looked back. The top 5 karts ran close the whole race with positions 2-5 changing almost every lap. On the last lap, Eric Gannon lost the lead in turn 1. He stayed close and made his move in the last corner. Eric got under the leader for a drag race to the finish line. Leading by only a few feet, the 2nd place driver reached out and grabbed the rear bumper of Eric’s kart causing his kart to slow just enough for the 2nd place kart to gain momentum to take the lead. It was a photo finish! Eric had lost by an inch. Pulling into the pits, Eric did not know of the “illegal grab” that had taken place. After review by the officials, the Win was awarded to Eric Gannon. The other driver had used this move 2 other times during the race and was disqualified.
Need 2 Speed teams had #1 qualifying positions, won 2 heat races and had the fastest lap time of the event.
